DC Home Buzz- A champion for a flat fee for sellers’ agents

Ati Williams, broker and owner of Washington, DC based real estate company, DC Home Buzz discusses her shift from commission based real estate services to a flat fee, full service for all real estate listings. Says Ms. Williams, “The flat fee “is an industry disrupter and won’t be welcomed. It is a touchy topic in the real estate sphere.”

A seller under a traditional broker would pay $60,000 to his and the buyers’ agents on a $1 million house. Under her flat fee, that seller would pay $9,900 to Williams’s firm and $30,000 to the buyers’ agent, saving $20,000.

In today’s world if you DON’T make a change you could find yourself swimming upstream and scrambling to make up for potentially huge attrition. The traditional model for building a financial advisory practice was based on what works for men.

According to a study by Boston Consulting Group women are exceedingly disappointed with the financial services industry and within just three years after losing a spouse women will leave their former advisor for good. That alone can add up to some serious loss of business.

As a Financial Advsior you just can’t ignore this segment of the population. So, the more you incorporate a female-friendly style in your practice, the more effective you will be at setting the pace for success in the new paradigm of financial services.
