From turning around and growing troubled wealth management businesses to eliminating Wall Street conflicts of interest and advocating a true client-centered business model, Fortune Magazine called her “The Last Honest Analyst” during her tenure at Sanford Bernstein. After years spent as the guardian of such brands as Smith Barney, Merrill Lynch and US Trust, Krawcheck’s long run as a successful public company executive was upended in 2011 in a management shake up that would transform the next stretch of her professional life. A renewed focus on her passions – women in business, regulatory reform, and investor protection – has made Krawcheck a sought-after business and financial services industry expert for both traditional and non-traditional media, as well as in Washington, D.C. Krawcheck’s embrace of social media as a means of including more people in her frank business conversations has garnered her more than 185,000 (and growing) followers as one of LinkedIn’s INfluencers and 17,000 followers on Twitter. A Tar Heel fan through and through, Krawcheck also spends her time advising start-up companies, focusing on education-oriented philanthropy and serving on a variety of boards.

85 Broads was originally founded as a network community for current and former Goldman Sachs women (the name of the network is a humorous play on the firm’s former headquarters at 85 Broad Street in NYC). Today, all trailblazing women are invited to join the network from every corner of the globe and from every possible career path. Together, these women make up the most powerful, intellectually savvy community of women in the world. Multi-cultural and multi-generational, 85 Broads members live, work, and study in 130 countries worldwide and work for thousands of for-profit companies and not-for-profit organizations.
After graduating from Columbia Business School, Janet joined Goldman Sachs in 1977. In 1986, she became the first woman in the firm’s history to be promoted to sales management. Following her 14-year career at Goldman Sachs, Janet founded Milestone Capital, an institutional money management company that grew to over $2 billion in assets. From 2004 to 2007, Janet was a Managing Director and Senior Advisor to the President & COO of Lehman Brothers.
Janet is a member of the Forbes Executive Women’s Board and is a member of the Kellogg Center for Executive Women’s Steering Committee. She is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Wheaton College (MA) and a current board member of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. She is an Associate Fellow of Pierson College at Yale University and serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Talent Innovation. She has received numerous awards and honors, including an honorary degree from Middlebury College in 2007.
Janet’s two children are her greatest passion. Meredith (Wheaton ’11) is a world-class studio artist, and is the co-owner of The Anchored Artists, an art boutique, on Nantucket. Chris (Dartmouth ’13) is a top-ranked squash player and will be joining the pro squash tour this summer.
Janet is invited to speak regularly at corporate events, on campuses, and in the media about the profound impact 85 Broads has had on women worldwide. She has also invested in over a dozen start-ups founded by members of 85 Broads.
Maricella Herrera is the Chief Operating Officer at 85 Broads, overseeing all global operations.
Maricella, who hails from El Salvador, recently graduated from Columbia Business School and previously did her undergraduate studies in Mexico, majoring in Finance. She has an extensive background in Private Equity and Real Estate Banking. While at Columbia, Maricella was actively involved in the Latin American Business Association and was a member of Columbia Women in Business. Maricella’s native tongue is Spanish and she is fluent in English.
Traveling is one of Maricella’s greatest passions, and she is happiest when discovering new cultures and meeting new people from around the world.
Wendy Satin is the Director of Communications at 85 Broads. She is the “central switching station” for all media, event, and corporate inquiries. She also manages our LinkedIn group and uses social media to keep members apprised of 85 Broads events held globally.
Prior to joining the 85 Broads team, Wendy worked for AFS Intercultural Programs where she had the opportunity to work on programs with AFS-USA and later, with AFS International working with the General Counsel/Corporate Secretary and their international board of trustees.
Wendy’s interest in the natural world led her to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in geography. She is a volunteer educator with a local environmental center where she leads schoolchildren on nature walks in various habitats. She is the mother of a wonderful eight-year old boy who definitely prefers baseball to nature. She is also very involved with the local elementary school where she chairs several committees and contributes her time to help with their imagination celebration and their first-rate theater productions.
Eric Holbrook is the Chief Technology Officer at 85 Broads. The majority of his career was spent in New York City in the IT department of companies such as Neuberger Berman. He went to work for 85 Broads during the summer of 2003 as a web developer and designer and worked for 85 Broads up until late 2008 and then returned in early 2012.
