July 31 2010

I participated in a 2-day client symposium this week for law firm CMOs and Managing partners. A highly interactive and engaged group of professionals all focusing on what's game-changing in client service.

In my role as President of 85 Broads, I was asked to speak on networks. I think about networking all the time as well as membership engagement, interaction and communications, however, it was good to spend a couple...

At SXSW I met Alison Kramer a mom of three and owner of Nummies http://www.nummies.com/ nursing bras. Amber's story IS about making money using the social web but it is NOT a fairytale story about how to get rich quick. How does Amber attribute $100,000 of income to Twitter? To summarize:

Oh, to have had a crystal ball back in 1994 or 1995...Clifford Stoll's commentary on the future of the internet (The Internet? Bah!) in Newsweek (February 27, 1995) http://www.newsweek.com/id/106554/page/1 is mildly amusing when read today ("The truth in no online database will replace your daily newspaper, no CD-ROM can take the place of a competent teacher and no computer network will change the way government works."). And as for how we're...

Stop Tweeting!!!

Scott Stratten has me thinking this morning. Scott's @unmarketing on Twitter and he's an expert in viral, social and authentic marketing - "unmarketing" as he calls it. The title of his blog post this morning is "What if I didn't use Twitter?"

Well, what if?

There are likely lots of other tasks, busy-work, real-work, pastimes, hobbies, I could list to fill in for the time I currently spend on Twitter.

Better (and...
