Dr. Jim Yong Kim, President Obama’s pick, is the new President of the World Bank. 

Dr. Kim won the support of the 25-member Board of the World Bank on 16 April, following a first-ever open and unusually fierce public challenge from two other candidates from Nigeria and Colombia, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Jose Antonio Ocampo.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the President of Liberia has won the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, it was announced today from Oslo, along with peace activist Leymah Gbowee, also from Liberia, and Tawakkol Karman of Yemen, a pro-democracy campaigner.
