I had the great pleasure to speak at a Compass in the Americas event last night at RBS in Stamford, CT.
The building is gorgeous -- I would be tempted to work there for that reason alone!
I teamed up with 4 fabulous women on the event's choreography: Nancy Keane, Jen Fitzgibbon, Tejal Wadhwani, and Maxine Gibbs. These gals are smart, warm, gracious, and made the night an absolute hit.
Roughly 150 people attended the event and many of the seats were taken by guys. That is a statement in and of itself. Compass in the Americas is an RBS initiative that focuses on creating a true meritocracy for women. From where I sit, RBS is giving new meaning to the phrase "actions speaks louder than words."
After my talk, I met Bob McKillip, Co-Head of GBS Americas and Head of Global Banking Americas. He is a genuinely nice guy and the word on Bob from the gals I spoke with last night -- he's as cool as he is smart!
Here's what I shared with the attendees at the event -- guys who sponsor women's careers at their firms are total studs. Two of my favorite GS examples -- Rich Atlas's support for Connie Kadrovach Duckworth and Mike Mortara's support for Jacki Hoffman Zehner. Thanks to Rich and Mike, two of the most spectacular women at the firm made partner.
RBS is definitely a firm that gets it. ROCK ON!
