COMMON, the accelerator for social change, is excited to announce Sharon Schneider, Founder and CEO of Good Karma, as the winner of COMMON Pitch NYC. Good Karma, a clothing subscription service for babies that saves parents time and money while drastically reducing waste, beat out seven other competing startups to take first place at last week’s packed event during New York’s Social Media Week.
Schneider’s Chicago-based company deftly addresses the parental, environmental and financial woes of the notorious 7 sizes of growth in a
baby’s first two years. This super-mom’s simple antidote? Don’t buy clothing, borrow it. With subscription rates starting at under $30 a month (and pre-paid returns sweetening the deal), Good Karma delivers appropriately sized, ready-to-wear

Sharon Schneider, Founder & CEO. Sharon is an expert on strategic philanthropy and the private foundation sector, where she has advised ultra-high net worth individuals and foundations for the last 12 years. Her specialty is getting donors excited and engaged in philanthropy through social entrepreneurship, mission-related investing and creative, non-traditional approaches to using our social capital for the social good. Along with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, she co-founded of the Chicago Social Venture Forum to encourage and facilitate program-related investing among small foundations. She is a founding member of the working group “Chicago Social Innovation” that seeks to make Chicago a recognized hub for social innovation. She recently served as a judge for the Bluhm-Helfand Social Innovation Fellowship that was offered as part of Chicago Ideas Week. Sharon brings the vision and inspiration for Good Karma, and is also responsible for the product design, marketing and community facilitation.
Rosalie Sturtevant, CFO. Rosalie is a CPA and MBA who has served as a senior financial officer for nonprofit organizations for over 30 years, including 10 years as Controller for Antioch University in Yellow Springs, OH, Chief Financial Officer for a nonprofit job placement program that included a resale operation, transitional housing and a homeless shelter with a $15 million annual budget, and most recently, business manager for the Lincoln Park Community Shelter. She brings extensive experience with budgeting, accounting, financial reporting and human resources management.
Sandra Pinter, COO.Sandra is a CPA and Operational Finance Manager with significant experience in inventory management, cost accounting and controls, purchasing, computer networking, reporting, budgeting and business analysis. She has worked 17 years in the manufacturing, consulting and railcar leasing industries, has served on the board of the Association of Women in the Metals Industries and is a member of the Illinois CPA Society. Sandra brings extensive operational, reporting and planning expertise to Good Karma.
